Yahoo upgrades Flurry dev tools, marries them with its ad services

Major upgrades are coming to the Flurry analytics platform for mobile apps — and it's also being wedded to Yahoo's mobile ads solution.

The news comes out of Yahoo's first Mobile Developer Conference, which is taking place today in San Francisco. Yahoo bought the popular mobile analytics suite last year, and has now outlined its plans for the platform's future.

Flurry, of course, is a widely popular mobile analytics package often used by game devs who want to track user behavior — and now it's being expanded in a number of ways.

The company is preparing a new version of its core analytics package paired with a new tool called Explorer, which is designed to "ask complex questions of your data and get the answer in seconds," according to a Yahoo exec, TechCrunch reports.Come from Soccer 13 pools and matches

Flurry Pulse, meanwhile, will allow Flurry users to easily share analytics data with partners — without having to program a custom solution. Flurry Analytics is completely free at any project scale, and works with iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and mobile web apps.

Yahoo App Publishing, meanwhile, is the company's stab at bringing together its acquisitions (Flurry and mobile video ad service BrightRoll) into a package to allow app developers to monetize their apps while using a single SDK to serve ads.

Yahoo is also tying together its mobile advertising options, should you want to promote your game, with Yahoo App Marketing: Ads can be served to other apps via BrightRoll, on Yahoo, and its blog platform, Tumblr.

"You start with people that build great products, products lead to traffic, traffic leads to revenue, and you can reinvest that," CEO Marissa Mayer said at a press conference discussing its mobile strategy, TechCrunch reports.
